My Memoji has laugh lines 😒

I mean, I thought I looked pretty good for my age.

Let me paint a picture. I asked my son who was about 18 years old at the time to meet me at the nail salon. He walks in and of course the nail lady didn’t know why he was there. Typical nervousness but whatever. I waved him over and he kissed me on the cheek and sat on the bench behind me. At some point my technician mentioned him being my boyfriend. I laughed and assured her that he was my son and he’s in fact only a teenager. She laugh nervously and then proceeded to ask my age. My response and my youth appearance seemingly made her question her aging appearance and she proceeded to call another tech over to share my age with her. So either I looked young enough to have an 18 year old boyfriend or they looked a lot older than they were. That was a bonus moment for me.

When you’re over 40 you’re supposed to have sagging skin and laugh lines

A not so humbling moment for me was when I created my Memoji with my Iphone update and I guess it must have asked an age range. Well clearly because that’s what my Memoji looked like. Don’t they know black don’t crack
unless you smoke it!

Can I pass or am I NOT being asked for my ID?

So which is right? Do I look like a young thang or do I look my age? And I think that’s the question most of us have once we start getting in our 40’s.

Truth is, I look a lot younger than I am, however I have started noticing changes within my skin. So Apple is theoretically correct. My Memoji is what I should look like given my age and the natural progression of life. But here’s what I do to keep me looking like a PYT
preventative skincare.

Once we ascend from 30’s into our 40’s, changes in the skin start to show.

  • A little more baggage around the eye area, some darkness (you’re wearing concealer that you didn’t need before).

  • Your skin isn’t plump like it used to be.

  • Your skin is looks dull and ashy

  • Somehow your pores seem larger than before

  • You see creases around your mouth and eyes when you’re not smiling

  • You just start to look like you’re aging!

  • Skin is a little saggy

Ways you can slow down the aging process (I won’t get too science-y):

  1. Wear SPF because I dare not tell beautiful black and brown people to avoid the sun. But beware, it can still be harmful to the skin. Too much of anything is never good for you.

  2. Eat foods that are high in essential fatty acids and antioxidants that contribute to healthy skin cells, hence healthy, youthful skin.

  3. Drink plenty of water. Your skin cells need hydration. I repeat, healthy cells = healthy skin.

  4. Make sure your skincare products have ingredients that address anti-aging, hydration and improve the overall cellular function of the skin and are packed with antioxidants.

  5. Exfoliate! The older you get the longer it takes for new cells to turnover, when you don’t exfoliate that dead skin just sits on your skin
hence the dullness.

Here’s how I can help:

  1. Recommend SPF that works well with your skin, doesn’t leave a grey overcast and you actually like wearing it.

  2. Click here to see skincare bundles that are full of antioxidants, ingredients that hydrate and moisturize the skin which promote healthy skin cells.

  3. DIY at home with products and a regimen created for you with an at home facial

  4. A deep cleansing, exfoliating, hydrating treatment that will give you the “Yo! Your skin is glowing”.
